Fielder to the Nats?

Prince Fielder looks like he could be coming close to signing with either the Washington Nationals or the new Miami Marlins. If Fielder does leave Milwaukee, Matt Gamel would be expected to take over at first base. Gamel’s not much of an intriguing option though, as he’s only a career .222 hitter in only 85 games. If Fielder signs with the Nats, look for him to play first base with Michael Morse covering left field and Adam Laroche sliding over to the bench or being traded once spring training begins. (more…)

2011 Fantasy Baseball: Week 20 Injury Report

Monday, August 15th, 2011

Another week, another update

The Fantasy baseball regular season is winding down to a close, but as always, the injuries never do. Last week fantasy owners were fooled by Paul Konerko’s knee injury and Melky Cabrera’s supposed ankle injury. They both went on to have productive weeks in week 19 and should be strong going forward. Take a look at this week’s round of injury updates for week 20 of the fantasy baseball regular season.

3B, Adrian Beltre/Texas Rangers: Beltre has been out for the past three weeks with a strained hamstring. He was supposed to be back sooner, but re-aggravated his injury during the rehab process. He did however, take the road trip with his team over the weekend, but did not play. He could be just one or two more weeks away from a return, so daily and weekly fantasy baseball leaguers, look elsewhere for third base help. (more…)

2011 Fantasy Baseball: Week 19 Injury Report

Monday, August 8th, 2011

Another week, another update

By now I’m sure you already know how my saying goes; another week of fantasy baseball means another week of injury updates. Take a look at who’s coming and going for week 19 of fantasy baseball action.

OF, Melky Cabrera/Kansas City Royals: Melky Cabrera was pulled from Saturday night’s game because of a sore left ankle. He hurt that same left ankle earlier in the week, so he might get extended time off for the ankle to fully recover. He was scratched from Sunday’s game and whether he will play or not on Monday, against the Rays, is yet to be seen. The Royals don’t seem to be making too much of the issue, so for right now it doesn’t seem too serious. Melky is considered day-to-day for now. (more…)

2011 Fantasy Baseball: Week 17 Injury Report

Monday, July 25th, 2011

Another week, another update

To all my fantasy baseball owners out there, you know the rules, “another week of baseball, another week of injury updates.” You can’t live with them and you can’t live without them, so take a quick look at some key names either coming or going in week 17 of fantasy baseball action.

OF, Vladimir Guerrero/Baltimore Orioles: Could be activated from the DL by Tuesday’s series opener at Toronto. Guerrero has been out of action since the All-Star break after being hit by a pitch on his right hand. Guerrero has already played a rehab game for Class-AA Bowie on Sunday, so he looks like a full-go here in week 17 of fantasy baseball. (more…)

James Shields Has Provided Punch for Fantasy Teams

The All-Star break has come and gone, and we have a better idea of which fantasy baseball draft picks were worth their rank in the preseason.  Here is a list of players who were not remarkably high on preseason draft lists, but have shown us a thing or two during the first three months plus of the season.  If you were lucky enough to take a gamble on one of them, chances are your position in the standings reflects that.  Of course, it may also reflect the guys you took a gamble on that are no longer on major league rosters…

(1) James Shields – SP, TB

Shields has been a tough-luck loser of late, until last night (giving up 6 earned runs).  Obviously he’s not been contributing to wins the past several weeks, which means his other stats are pretty darn good. (more…)
