2011 Fantasy Baseball: Week 14 (July 4-10) Injury Report

Monday, July 4th, 2011

Another one bites the dust!

OF, Torii Hunter/L.A. Angels: On Friday, July 1st, during the first inning of the game, Torii Hunter was hit by a pitch on his left hand from Hiroki Kuroda and was removed from the game after playing two innings after the incident.  X-rays came back negative, but he was still held out of the lineup for both Saturday and Sunday and is listed as day-to-day.  The injury is being called a bruised left hand.  Manager Mike Scioscia did however say that Hunter would be available for defense and pinch-running, so it doesn’t sound like the injury is too serious.  For managers in weekly lineup leagues, if you have another solid option on the bench, I would use it until he proves he can still hit with that wrist.  Daily leagues, keep him sidelined until further notice. Fantasy Baseball: Who’s Hot? Who’s Not? Week 11

Tuesday, June 21st, 2011

Paul Konerko of the White Sox has been watching a lot of baseballs fly over the fence lately.

Well, summer is officially here, folks.  The temperature will keep gettin’ hotter, and you know what that means?  Yup, players across the league will be catching fire!  Over the past week, a number of big leaguers were scorching; however, a few were really ice cold.  If you want to see if anyone from your fantasy baseball team made this week’s “Who’s Hot? Who’s Not?” list, keep on reading and check out the list below.

Who’s Hot

Paul Konerko, CWS 1B – The White Sox still aren’t atop the AL Central, but Paul Konerko has done everything in his power to help his team contend.  The 35-year-old first baseman appears to be getting better with age, and this season he is on pace for a career year.  He is currently in the top five of the Triple Crown categories, and this past week he really padded his stats.

Prince Fielder has been absolutely crushing the ball for the Brew Crew

Well, summer is not officially here yet, but there are a number of guys in the MLB who are simply scorching right now.  This week’s edition of “Who’s Hot? Who’s Not?” features a couple of newcomers; however, there are also a few returnees.  Hopefully everybody out there is enjoying the fantasy baseball season so far, but if you are not, try trading for (or trading away) one of the players on the list below to improve your chances for a successful year.

Who’s Hot

Prince Fielder, MIL 1B – Coming into the 2011 season, Prince Fielder knew he had a lot to prove in a contract year.  The Brewers’ big first baseman has all the power in the world, but many teams are still scared by his rather rotund figure.  Well, I think it’s time to put all weight-issue worries aside because Fielder is absolutely mashing the ball so far this year. Fantasy Baseball: Who’s Hot? Who’s Not? Week 9

Tuesday, June 7th, 2011

New week, new players.  The season is sailing along as we move into June, and each week different players are finding themselves on the “Who’s Hot? Who’s Not?” list.  Check out this week’s list to see if any players from your fantasy baseball team are heating up (or cooling down).

Who’s Hot

Albert Pujols, STL 1B – “The Machine” is back, baby!  Actually, did he ever leave?  Yea, he started off the year slow, but so what?  Every great player is prone to slumps here and there, but when Pujols wasn’t dropping bombs right out of the gate, you would have thought the end of the world was near the way all the doubters and naysayers were putting in their two cents.  Give the guy a break.  He has ten straight seasons of .300/30/100 for cryin’ out loud.  But who cares what I think…enough ranting on my part.  Over the past week, Pujols showed why he is the best player in baseball by unleashing his wrath upon opposing pitchers. Adrian Gonzalez is Hot in Fantasy Baseball

Adrian Gonzalez has been on an absolute tear.

Here it is…the new “Hot” and “Not” list.  A couple of guys have returned to the “Hot” list for the second time this year, but everybody on the “Not” list is a newcomer this week.  With 40 games played so far in the 2011 season, we have a pretty good grasp as to who is, or who isn’t, performing at expected levels.  Check out the list below to see if any of the players are making an impact for your fantasy baseball team.

Fantasy Baseball Who’s Hot Week 6

Adrian Gonzalez, BOS 1B
Make it two weeks in a row on the “Hot” list for the newly acquired Boston first baseman.  Last week Gonzalez was on fire.  However, this week he took it to a whole new level.  In fact, I don’t even know if there is an appropriate word out there to describe just how scalding hot Gonzalez’s bat has been over this past week.   (more…)
