2011 Fantasy Baseball: All-Star Selection Process Out Here Grinding Our Gears!

Elmo playin' along with the Joke of Derek Jeter making this years' All-Star team!

Ok, first of all, Elmo is on this photo because Derek Jeter making this year’s All-Star team is a joke.  Somebody please answer this question for me.  At 37 years of age, coming fresh off the DL this past Monday with a bum right calf muscle, hitting .256 with only 2 home runs and 20 RBI, how the heck did Derek Jeter get voted into the 2011 All-Star game?  What kind of All-Star game is this where the more deserving players who are having real All-Star seasons keep on getting snubbed out of making the team?  I always thought the All-Star game was for those players who are having All-Star type seasons.  What’s going on out here?

2011 Fantasy Baseball: Triple Crown Threat(s)

Thursday, June 2nd, 2011

Is he calling it? The triple crown?

This year in the 2011 fantasy baseball season, it has been really tough to pick out more than just one plausible triple crown candidate.  In the Fantasy baseball world, a triple crown player is of the utmost value to a manager trying to make a push for the fantasy baseball title.  A player that leads the league in average, RBI and home runs, is a player that can lead your team to the playoffs and finals by himself, or at least play a huge role in doing so!  In this list of triple crown threat(s), honorable mentions after Jose Bautista and Jay Bruce will be of no shortage. 2011 Fantasy Baseball News (February 2nd): Freddy Garcia Signs Minor League Deal with Yanks

Add Freddy Garcia to the "Maybe" List of the 2011 Yankee Pitching Staff

It has been a quiet week in MLB news, as the free agent class is getting smaller and teams are running out of players to round out their teams. Now more teams will looking to sign high risk, high reward players. Or veterans who are trying to bounce back and revive their careers. Most of these players will not make much of an impact on fantasy baseball for this coming season but I believe Freddy Garcia and Justin Duchscherer have value if things fall their way.

2011 Fantasy Baseball: Top 10 3B

Friday, January 21st, 2011

Longoria has not only taken the top spot, but he is starting to pull away!

Continuing with the rankings for the upcoming fantasy baseball season I will talk about the Third Base position. Third Base is a position filled with talented players, but does not compare to the strength there is at First Base. There are some young players who are already fantasy studs that could improve this upcoming season and also the return of Kevin Youkilis to the position strengthens the crop. (more…)

2011 Fantasy Baseball: Top 10 2B

Thursday, January 20th, 2011

Cano takes the top spot after posting near MVP numbers.

The top-10 preseason fantasy baseball position rankings continue here at FBS. Last time we listed fantasy baseball catchers, this time it’s for the second basemen. Once thought of as a thin position in fantasy baseball, the 2B talent pool has grown considerably in the last few years, so much so that you could get good value for taking a second baseman in the later rounds. Here are my early pre-spring training rankings for 2B.

Please Note: Stats are listed as: Average, HR, RBI, Runs, SB/Attempts and AB. The player’s age at the start of the 2011 season is next to his team’s name.

1) Robinson Cano – New York Yankees (28)

2010: .319-29-109-103-3/5 (626)

Cano took a large step forward last year to become the clear-cut best second basemen in baseball. (more…)
