Carl Crawford

When will Carl Crawford return from off-season surgery on his injured left wrist?

It seems the first question asked when a star player hits the disabled list is not, “how bad was the injury?” but rather “how long will he be out of my lineup?”.  Yes you can blame fantasy baseball owners for this, after all we have daily and weekly fantasy baseball games to play, we need to know! Thanks to the endless amount of information you can find on the internet, especially social media giants like Twitter, it’s easier than ever to get breaking news reports about your players.  While MLB teams usually have a good idea how long a player may be on the shelf, they may not necessarily disclose that information to the public.  This leaves owners scrambling for scraps of info to help with their lineup decisions,  but ultimately the plan on how you should act going forward comes down to a gut call.  (more…)

2011 Fantasy Baseball: Week 14 (July 4-10) Injury Report

Another one bites the dust!

OF, Torii Hunter/L.A. Angels: On Friday, July 1st, during the first inning of the game, Torii Hunter was hit by a pitch on his left hand from Hiroki Kuroda and was removed from the game after playing two innings after the incident.  X-rays came back negative, but he was still held out of the lineup for both Saturday and Sunday and is listed as day-to-day.  The injury is being called a bruised left hand.  Manager Mike Scioscia did however say that Hunter would be available for defense and pinch-running, so it doesn’t sound like the injury is too serious.  For managers in weekly lineup leagues, if you have another solid option on the bench, I would use it until he proves he can still hit with that wrist.  Daily leagues, keep him sidelined until further notice. Fantasy Baseball Injury Watch (April. 14th)

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

Scott Kazmir will make his first start of the season April 15th against the Yankees.

FBS keeps you up to date on all the latest injury news that will impact fantasy teams. A lot of big names in the first week of the season have been bruised and battered. Three of the top middle infielders in the game will be put on the shelf for a couple weeks.

Disabled List

Jimmy Rollins, SS, Philadelphia Phillies

– A right calfstrain scratched JRo from the lineup on Monday. Although not official yet, the must-start fantasy shortstop seems ticketed to the 15-day DL. Veteran utility man Juan Castro will play SS for the Phillies until Rollins returns

Brian Roberts, 2B, Baltimore Orioles

-The must-start fantasy second baseman was placed on the DL, retroactive till April 10 with an abdominal injury he suffered while attempting a steal.  The leadoff man might be out longer than 15 days and will most likely have a minor league rehab stint before rejoining the Orioles. Julio Lugo, Ty Wiggington and Justin Turner will help fill the shoes of Roberts. Fantasy-wise, neither players are good options to replace Roberts in a fantasy lineup. (more…)
