Injured Players and Their Outlook

Monday, March 18th, 2013

We are in the midst of spring training and there are quite a few impact players who are out with injuries. I will examine some impact players and their injuries for this fantasy baseball season. I will give an outlook on what to expect when they come back from their injuries and whether it is worth it to pick up these players.

Curtis Granderson a name to not ignore in your drafts

Curtis Granderson is injured but should not be forgotten

Curtis Granderson and Mark Texiera (NYY) – A double whammy for the beloved/hated New York Yankees. Granderson got hurt in the very first Yankees spring training game and his very first at-bat. A J.A. Happ pitch fractured his right forearm and he is out for 10 weeks. He is scheduled to come back some time in May.

Outlook: I would gamble on him. I think once he knocks off the rust he will be a solid addition to your team. He may not hit 40+ HRs missing 2 months but he can hit 30+ HRs after he comes back, which makes him a nice bargain in daily fantasy baseball leagues.

As for Teixiera, I am more worried about him than I do about Grandy. Why? (more…)

Adrian Gonzalez

Adrian Gonzalez and the Red Sox have a lot to celebrate about.

Adrian Gonzalez is trailed by a slew of Yankees and Red Sox, fittingly, as those two teams compete for the top spot in the AL East. The best players come through when their team needs them the most, and the best bats in the American League are proving themselves in tight pennant races. There are some big numbers showing up recently as the season winds down. Here are the American League Power Rankings as of August 3rd.

1) Adrian Gonzalez – BOS (Last Week: 1)

Adrian Gonzalez’s RBI total now sits at 90, which means he will almost definitely be the first player in baseball to cross over the 100 RBI mark, with much of the season left to play. (more…)

Adrian Gonzalez

Adrian Gonzalez has stepped up and become this week's AL Power Ranking's #1.

With how hot the Red Sox offense has been, it is not too surprising that they have a slew of players in this week’s American League Power Rankings. The best has been, who else, Adrian Gonzalez, who has n RBI total that rocks anyone else in the big leagues. Time will tell how high that total can climb, and how much Fantasy owners will feast on his production. These are the American League Power Rankings as of July 27th.

1) Adrian Gonzalez – BOS (Last Week: 2)

While he still has not been able to hit the long ball as of late, Adrian Gonzalez has been on an RBI tear. With 7 RBIs in his last 4 games, Gonzalez has pushed his season RBI total to a phenomenal 85. (more…)

All-Star Balloting: Adrian Gonzalez Tops Jose Bautista as AL Bats Heat Up

Tuesday, June 7th, 2011
Adrian Gonzalez

Adrian Gonzalez has taken over the top spot in the American League.

While Jose Bautista has been impressive all season long, he has had a few players hot on his trail in the weeks passed. This week, he has finally been caught by the red hot bat of Adrian Gonzalez. The Red Sox slugger has been on an impressive tear that even Bautista could not keep up with. The American League East has long been the powerhouse of the AL, and these power rankings are no different. These are the best bats in the American League as of June 6th.

1) Adrian Gonzalez – BOS (Last Week: 2)

Gonzalez has been simply unstoppable over the past few weeks. If it were not for a slow start, who knows what kind of numbers he would have right now. He leads Major League Baseball with 50 RBIs, 35 of which came in May and June alone. (more…)

All-Star Balloting: Bautista Hangs On to Top Spot in AL, But Gap Closing

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011
Jose Bautista

The Jays' Jose Bautista has been on a tear all season long.

Jose Bautista has been the best in the bigs all season long, but is his time as the most dominant player in the Majors coming to an end? An extremely hot month from Adrian Gonzalez has fans wondering what kind of numbers the slugging Red Sox star will post, and whether or not Bautista will be able to live up to the incredible numbers he has posted early this season. Time will tell who will continue to keep their bat red-hot, and who will sizzle away. These are the power rankings for the American League as of May 30.

1) Jose Bautista – TOR (Last Week: 1)

Bautista has not been touched in the top spot yet this season, and for good reason. The Blue Jays’ slugger is 1st in the league in home runs, 1st in runs, 1st in walks, 1st in OBP, 1st in slugging, and 1st in OPS. (more…)
