2012 Fantasy Baseball: For Real or Fictitious?

Is Carlos Pena for real?

Every fantasy baseball season there are players who get off to hot starts. Some of them maintain a high level of production for the entire season (think Matt Kemp in 2011) and others seem to hit a wall after performing well early on.

The importance of determining which players will continue to do well and who will fall off is crucial in managing your team. A player who is off to a hot start for your team but who you think can’t continue to rake should be traded while their value is at a maximum level.

A player on another team who does the same thing should be recognized and avoided in any potential trade offers.

Let’s take a look at some players by position and see who is for real this year and who has had fictitious performances thus far. (All stats are as of Monday afternoon) (more…)

2011 Fantasy Baseball: What’s With All the Fantasy Stud Drop Off?

Wednesday, June 29th, 2011

What's with all the stud drop off?

What’s wrong with Carl Crawford?  What’s wrong with Adam Dunn?  Or how about Hanley Ramirez, Chone Figgins and even David Wright, hitting only .226 in 146 at bats before he went on the DL?  What’s wrong with these guys?  Why do we see that every year in fantasy baseball, where guys that have always been good and have always produced at a high level, fantasy studs, if you will, suddenly come out the next year to struggle and hit for a horribly low average? Jed Lowrie

Jed Lowrie has been on fire for the beginning of the 2011 fantasy baseball season.

Some players get “Hot,” and some players get “Not.”  That’s just the way it is.  The 2011 season is three weeks in right now, and already we have some guys who are on top of their game, and then we have some who simply aren’t.  Check out the list below to see which players are helping (or hurting) their teams thus far for the 2011 fantasy baseball season.

Fantasy Baseball Who’s Hot Week 3

2011 Fantasy Baseball: Top 50 Fantasy Players

Tuesday, February 15th, 2011

Albert Pujols sits at #1 on our 2011 Top 50 Fantasy Player list.

As pitchers and catchers report this week, that means only one thing. Baseball season is upon us. For many Fantasy Baseball players their draft preparation kicks into gear at this time. I have put together a top 50 list, ranking the players for the 2011 season. Taking the best 50 players in the order you should draft them. This list could be used with every possible league type. It’s not the best 50 players in the game in that order, rather just the best 50 fantasy players. Enjoy!

1. Albert Pujols: The biggest story for Pujols will be if he signs an extension with the Cardinals or becomes a free agent.
2. Miguel Cabrera
3. Hanley Ramirez (more…)

2011 Fantasy Baseball: Top 10 Shortstops

Friday, January 28th, 2011

This is the man on top of many experts' list!

The shortstop position is very top heavy this fantasy baseball season, but the list does have some players that are consistent. Some of these shortstops can be valuable fantasy players at a low price. This is not a position where you will find power outside of Hanley Ramirez and Troy Tulowitzki unless someone else steps up in 2011.

This is a position filled with players that have had recent injuries, but if healthy, they are capable of producing valuable numbers in five or six categories, which could make them very helpful on your roster. (more…)
