2011 Fantasy Baseball: Week 14 (July 4-10) Injury Report

Monday, July 4th, 2011

Another one bites the dust!

OF, Torii Hunter/L.A. Angels: On Friday, July 1st, during the first inning of the game, Torii Hunter was hit by a pitch on his left hand from Hiroki Kuroda and was removed from the game after playing two innings after the incident.  X-rays came back negative, but he was still held out of the lineup for both Saturday and Sunday and is listed as day-to-day.  The injury is being called a bruised left hand.  Manager Mike Scioscia did however say that Hunter would be available for defense and pinch-running, so it doesn’t sound like the injury is too serious.  For managers in weekly lineup leagues, if you have another solid option on the bench, I would use it until he proves he can still hit with that wrist.  Daily leagues, keep him sidelined until further notice. Fantasy Baseball News

Webb could be a huge addition for the Rangers.

Before 2009, Brandon Webb was considered one of the most consistent pitchers and one of the first pitchers off the board. From 2006 to 2008 he had an era a little over 3 each year, averaging around 18 wins and 185 strikeouts.

The four innings pitched over the past two years and Webb is now an afterthought. However, he is an interesting prospect heading into 2011.He has signed a one year deal with the Texas Rangers and will be joining a very young and talented rotation of CJ Wilson, Tommy Hunter, Derek Holland and Colby Lewis. Fantasy Baseball Impact: Zack Greinke to Milwaukee Brewers

Fantasy Baseball

The addition of Greinke makes the Brewers legit.

The Kansas City Royals are once again in rebuilding mode but did they ever really leave it over the past ten years? They recently traded away the only player with significant relevance in fantasy baseball in former CY Young Winner, Zack Greinke. Greinke, along with Yuniesky Betancourt, were traded to the Milwaukee Brewers for shortstop Alcides Escobar, outfielder Lorenzo Cain and two pitching prospects.

The Brewers are setting up to be one of the top teams in the National League next year with the addition of Greinke and Shawn Marcum to a lineup with players like Prince Fielder, Ryan Braun, and Corey Hart. This year will be his first year being on a team who has a realistic shot at the playoffs and it will be interesting to see which Greinke shows up next year, the one who won the Cy Young in 2009 or the pitcher with an ERA over 4 and 14 losses.
