Getting off to a fast start is always crucial when it comes to success in fantasy baseball. You want to see that your investments are heading in the right direction and that your team is actually going to do what you’ve envisioned them doing all spring training long. 2011 Fantasy Baseball Rankings: Old Faces in New Places

Crawford has gotten off to a slow start in 2011.

Every year in this crazy world of professional sports, some huge free agent acquisition goes down, or someone gets picked up off waivers and we wonder how that player could even look in another uniform. Think of Drew Brees playing for the San Diego Chargers before he went to the New Orleans Saints, or even Johnny Damon signing with the Yankees in 06, which I thought was the craziest thing ever, especially after being so popular with the Boston Red Sox and supposedly hating the Yankees. What about all those so-called bloody games and brutal series’ they had together? Anyway, it’s hard to imagine seeing certain players in different uniforms, but it happens every year and we always wonder how it’s all going to pan out for the new team and player.

2011 Fantasy Baseball Rankings: Zach Britton & Week One Sleepers

Britton has looked VERY impressive.

While many fantasy baseball owners try to find sleepers in the draft, the more effective way to find them is in the early parts of the season. We have seen a lot of young pitchers make statements in the first couple weeks of our young season. While veterans may provide owners with more consistency, there is no doubting the young pitching talent that has sprouted up across the major leagues already, providing owners with a nice crop of fantasy baseball sleepers.
Zach Britton – SP – Baltimore Orioles
Britton started the season off on a solid note by holding the Rays to only three hits and one run over six innings in his major league debut. The young lefty had a 6:3 strikeout to walk ratio while keeping his pitch count down. (more…)

Jeremy Hellickson can be the next big thing in fantasy baseball.

The first week of the fantasy baseball season has come and gone and one group has already made quite a name for themselves, the rookies. Just about every youngster found in the rankings this week made great strides over the last seven days. In just a short period of time these young guns have stepped up into the spot and forced people to recognize their game. Pitchers dominate the rankings this week and it’s with good reason too. Some of the following young men outdueled proven veterans last week and gave themselves additional confidence as they progress toward rookie of the year dreams.
