Fantasy Baseball Top 5 Matchups (May. 22nd)

Sunday, May 23rd, 2010

Mr. Danks will be tipping his cap to his fantasy owners this week.

Top Batters

1.Justin Morneau (Twins): Morneau face the Yankees and Rangers this week at home with a three-game series against each. Over his last seven he has three homerunes, and 21 total bases. Last season Morneau hit .346 with three homeruns and 20 total bases against the Yankees in seven games.

2.Alex Rodriguez (Yankees): A-Rod makes the list yet again and has been pretty hot as of late. He has 10 RBI and added three homeruns over his last seven, this week he has the Twins coming to town for three and then goes to Cleveland for another three-game series. (more…)

Hanley Ramirez will be rewarding you for using him this week.

Top Batters

1.Andre Ethier (Dodgers): Ethier has six home-games during the upcoming week against the Braves and Phillies (three each). Last week the Dodger slugger had a stat-line of .480/5/13 with only one strikeout. The Dodgers have a strong line-up and have a few players who will make this list more than a few times.

2.Hanley Ramirez (Marlins): The games top shortstop has a full week coming up with three games at Chicago and finishing with a four-game series at home verse the Mets. In 16 games last season Ramirez had 32 total bases and hit .373 against the Mets. He is currently batting .318 on the season and I suspect it will be above .320 come next week. (more…)

Fantasy Baseball Top 5 Matchups (May. 1st)

Cano's performance this year has his fantasy owners giddy.

Top Batters

1.Robinson Cano (Yankees): For the second week in a row a Yankee hitter leads this list (A-Rod). Cano has been hitting with confidence, over the last week he has hit 4 home runs while batting .583 with a 1.125 slugging percentage. Get him in your lineup!

2.Paul Konerko (White Sox): “Paully Walnuts” is on pace for 77 home runs as you read this. As that surely won’t happen, Konerko is the one batter in the Sox lineup you have to start. 7 games against the Royals (3) and Blue Jays (4) this week should help him add to his power numbers. (more…)

Slugger Mark Reynolds cracks the Top 5 matchups this week

Top Batters

1. Alex Rodriguez (Yankees): A-Rod has six games, three each against the White Sox and Orioles. Over the last seven games the Yankees slugger is hitting .438/7/2/4/1 (Avg/Hits/HR/RBI/SB). Not numbers that blow you away this is the week he will blow his owners away. Both the Sox and the O’s have ERAs over 4.50 and are not playing good baseball.

2.Ryan Braun (Brewers): He made me look like a genius last week and if you were playing weekly fantasy games he very well may have carried your team to victory. The games best young slugger had a stat-line of .500/6/2/9/4. That’s right four stolen bases. He is all set for another series against the Pirates who he had a 5 RBI game against last week. He should continue to be hot.

3.Matt Kemp (Dodgers): Like Braun, Kemp had a big week, continuing his great season. Kemp is tied for the League lead in both HR’s and RBI, until this changes he needs to be on this list in my eyes.

Top 5 Fantasy Baseball Matchups of the Week (Apr. 20th)

Carlos Silva looks like he is returning to his old form.

Here at Fantasy Baseball Sportal, we continue to give you excellent match-up previews for hitters and pitchers each week.

Read on for this week’s top match-ups to take advantage of in your fantasy baseball league:

Top Pitchers

1. Brad Penny, St. Louis Cardinals

Pitching coach Dave Duncan has worked his magic yet again it seems. Penny has been Cy Young esque so far this season having a miniscule .64 ERA and .79 WHIP. I don’t know about you but I’ll take two starts against the Giants and D’Backs.

2. Carlos Silva, Chicago Cubs

The big righty has been a huge surprise this year, he’s pitching like he’s a Twin again. A .69 ERA through two starts. Look for that to continue against the struggling Mets offense. (more…)
