Another week, another update
Another week of baseball, another week of injury updates. Take a look at some big names that may or may not be able to help your fantasy cause for this week.
1B, Paul Konerko/Chicago White Sox: After being hit by a pitch on his left calf during Sunday’s game, Paul Konerko was removed from the lineup and given the rest of the day off. After X-rays were taken, only a bruise was revealed. Consider the injury minor and expect to see Pauli back in the White Sox lineup on Monday, at home, against the New York Yankees; a series in which Ozzie Guillen will most assuredly want Konerko to be a part of. Another week, another update
To all my fantasy baseball owners out there, you know the rules, “another week of baseball, another week of injury updates.” You can’t live with them and you can’t live without them, so take a quick look at some key names either coming or going in week 17 of fantasy baseball action.
OF, Vladimir Guerrero/Baltimore Orioles: Could be activated from the DL by Tuesday’s series opener at Toronto. Guerrero has been out of action since the All-Star break after being hit by a pitch on his right hand. Guerrero has already played a rehab game for Class-AA Bowie on Sunday, so he looks like a full-go here in week 17 of fantasy baseball. (more…)

Another week, another update
Another week, another set of injury updates. Take a look at some of the big names that are coming or going, on the DL that is.
Carlos Gonzalez, OF/Colorado Rockies: An X-ray revealed a deep bone bruise for Carlos Gonzalez. He returned to the lineup this past Friday as a defensive replacement, but still missed 4 games prior to that. Hopefully after the All-Star break he’ll be recovered and ready to go, but bone bruises can be tricky and take a long time to heal. Daily leaguers wait for updates, and weekly leaguers will want to tread carefully and proceed with caution. After his return, I wouldn’t start him until he’s got a week under his belt and at least shows he can still play with that wrist. (more…)

Giants fans are hoping for a repeat.
1) San Francisco Giants
With their young and talented pitching staff the Giants are in a great position to defend their World Series title in 2011. Giant pitchers led all of baseball last year in ERA, strikeouts, and opponents batting average. They were also second in runs allowed and their bullpen recorded a league best 57 saves, most coming from closer Brian Wilson who converted 48 of his 53 attempts. The Giants should be stronger this season as an offensive fantasy baseball power as well. With a few off-season moves and young emerging talent in the line-up, they hope to bolster their numbers from a year ago. I fully except the Giants to win this division again in 2011, and make a run in the post season towards another World Series Title.
Offseason Grade | B
The Giants made the necessary moves needed to set themselves up for a run at a repeat. The first major obstacle was resigning their best offensive player from a year ago Aubrey Huff. (more…)

Look for Carlos Gonzalez to have a monster 2011.
Preseason fantasy baseball position rankings continue here at FBS. We have already listed fantasy baseball catchers, and second basemen, so now it’s on to the outfielders. Such a deep position calls for a top-15 list. Here are my early pre-spring training rankings for the OF position.
