It’s the last leg of the season for fantasy owners as teams claw and fight over playoff berths in leagues galore. At this point in the season, it’s awfully tough to find a sleeper play, but here are some guys that may be on your bench that should be in your fantasy lineups this week.
#1. Manny Ramirez, DH, Chicago White Sox
Despite his whacky personality, the White Sox got the better end of this deal. They got a big hitter in the middle of their line up for virtually nothing. This the perfect piece to the puzzle to close the gap between to the Minnesota Twins. Ramirez has a good batting average for the season, .312, but has only compiled 199 ABs. The slugger should have a good week against the weak pitching staff’s of KC & Detroit.
#2. Omar Infante, 2B, Atlanta Braves
For the season, Infante is batting a staggering .343 with seven taters and 38 RBI. The super utility man may very well steal the batting crown away from Votto and play Triple Crown spoiler. Over the last six games, Infante had six hits and scored eight runs (one 2B, one HR, and three RBI). He’ll continue to be Mr. Consistent this week for owners who have enjoyed his production throughout the fantasy season.
#3. Juan Uribe, SS, San Francisco Giants
With fantasy teams and the Giants both surging toward a playoff berth, Uribe will have to be a critical contributor as the season winds down. With 71 RBI on the season, he’s certainly proved capable of coming through in clutch opportunities for the club. With two divisional opponents this week, Uribe will look to prove that he’s no slouch.
#4. Aramis Ramirez, 3B, Chicago Cubs
Not many players had a better month of August than Ramirez. He batted .301 with five home runs and 21 RBI. Despite his low season average of .240, Ramirez has been a much more productive fantasy contributor in the second half after struggling with a thumb injury early in the season. Look for Ramirez to keep on drivin’ in the runs for owners this week.
#5. Howard Kendrick, 2B, Los Angeles Angels
Kendrick batted .323 with eight doubles, two dingers, and 10 RBI in the month of August. He’s heating up for the Angels who are desperate to find any source of offense that they can. The scrappy 2B has 65 RBI this season and could finish the year in style if he continues his current pace.
