The final hurrah.
With the World Series set to start on Wednesday, this is the last chance to play fantasy baseball until next season. With a six-month layoff on the horizon, owners should do everything they can to make sure that you’re rolling with the ideal fantasy baseball players from both Texas & San Francisco.
Hitters
1.Josh Hamilton, OF Texas
Arguably this year’s AL MVP, Hamilton absolutely crushed the Yankees in the ALCS and was an integral part of Texas advancing to the World Series. With four taters already in the postseason and an incredible 10 walks (.396 OBP), Hamilton will serve as a potent force for both the Rangers and your fantasy baseball team.
2.Cody Ross, OF San Francisco
Ross has paid big dividends for the Giants after they stole him from the Marlins late in the season. He’s been swinging an incredibly hot stick thus far in postseason play, and with a .324 average and eight RBI, owners should bet on Ross contributing in a big way should the Giants hope to take home the series.
3.Buster Posey, C San Francisco
Is there anything that this kid can’t do? While he’s yet to take one out during the playoffs, Posey has been a hitting machine and is currently tied for fifth in the category among those that qualify. If the Giants are going to get past the Rangers, owners can bet that Posey will have something to do with it.
4.Nelson Cruz, OF Texas
The postseason leader in the home run department, Cruz is putting his talent on display for a national audience. Somehow still flying under the radar, the former top prospect has emerged as a star in Texas and will be critical to the Rangers’ championship hopes.
5.Elvis Andrus, SS Texas
No love for the King? Andrus not only leads in the stolen base department this postseason, but in the hits category as well. Additionally, he’s tied for second in runs, and is batting .333. He belongs in all fantasy baseball lineups as his success atop the Texas order will be a major factor in deciding who wins it all.
Pitchers
1.Cliff Lee, Texas
Cha-ching. That’s the sound made every time Lee strikes another hitter out in the postseason. The most sought after free agent on the market will look to further assert his dominance against a very tough Giants team. If he’s not your pitcher of choice this postseason, your fantasy baseball team may be in trouble.
2.Tim Lincecum, San Francisco
Proof that you don’t have to be a big guy to throw hard, Lincecum has been brilliant for the Giants in their quest toward a championship. Squaring off against Lee in Game 1, Lincecum could do a lot for his future paychecks should he prove able to provide a victory.
3.Matt Cain, San Francisco
It seems that the Giants’ rotation is loaded with aces, and while that’s certainly not the case, Cain is pitching the part quite well. Perhaps the most under-the-radar fantasy baseball contributor in the universe, Cain’s steady, consistent approach will look to silent the potent Texas bats.
4.Colby Lewis, Texas
Despite faltering down the stretch of the regular season, Lewis is back to his brilliant ways in the postseason. Looking very much like a mainstay of the Texas rotation, Lewis and his 1.45 ERA in the playoffs will look to keep it rolling.
5.C.J. Wilson, Texas
Where did all the Cliff Lee comparisons go? After Wilson took one on the chin after starting on short rest, it seems that his confidence is a little jolted. Fear not owners, as Wilson will be sure to watch Lee’s Game 1 start closely and do his best impression when it’s his turn to take the ball.
