Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire (September 30th)

This kid carries enormous potential.

If your team is in need of a boost, we suggest taking a gander at the fantasy baseball waiver wire pickups listed below. These guys are absolutely on fire and are available in most standard leagues. Don’t wait too long as these fantasy baseball sleepers are bound to be snatched up by week’s end.

Pedro Alvarez, PIT, 3B (30): The reigning NL Player of The Week is available in the majority of fantasy baseball leagues despite notching a disgusting 14 RBI this past week. Alvarez was drafted for his power hitting, but had some issues finding his stroke when he was first called up. It appears that is a problem of the past as he sent three longballs over the fence this week.

Ty Wigginton, BAL, 3B/1B/2B/DH (81): The Baltimore utility man is a good pickup in the final stretch if you have an area of need in the infield. Wigginton will give you a steady .300 average and has even had some solid run production this past week.

Danny Valencia, MIN, 3B (30): Valencia won’t get you a win in the AVG department, but Valencia went yard twice this past week, and five times in the past ten days. A homerun every other day is enough to help any fantasy baseball lineup.

Neil Walker, PIT, 3B/2B (80): The young slugger have been on fire as of late, and although his seven runs are certainly with the help of Pedro Alvarez, you can’t ignore the six RBI that Walker had this past week. He has really established himself at the plate, batting .360 last week and looking like a fixture in the lineup.

Melvin Mora, COL, 3B/1B/2B, (21): Mora is arguably the hottest player on this list. Not only can he play any spot on your roster, but he is  an overqualified fill-in. Lots of good things will come to any batter that that hits .421 over a week’s time, and his power numbers have been solid of late as well.

Honorable Mention: Chris Johnson, HOU, 3B (63); Michael Morse, WAS 1B/OF (14); Garrett Jones, PIT, 1B/OF (81); Jed Lowrie, BOS, SS/2B (7.6)
