Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire (July 2nd)

Gaby Sanchez is becoming a worthy fantasy player.

If your team is in need of a boost we suggest looking at some of these gentlemen below. Not only are these players available, their on fire! You better hurry though, because the percentages (percentage owned in Yahoo leagues) you see next to the players name will be rising quickly

Gaby Sanchez, FLA, 1B (47):  He probably won’t be the starting first baseman on your team, but Sanchez’ .307 AVG is perfect for a utility position.  Sanchez has been getting a lot of help from his teammates too, he has scored 4 runs over the past week and as many RBI.

Carlos Santana, CLE, C (88): Hurry up and snag Santana while you still have a chance.  His owned-percentage shot up about 25% since last week.  For good reason too, in that same time span Santana has amassed 6 runs, 2 HR’s and 5 RBI while batting .364.

Erick Aybar, LAA, SS (74): Back from the DL, Aybar took no time getting back to his old self.  You may have missed him when he was on the Waiver Wire list before but since the injury he has been dropped in most leagues.  Except for his first two games back, Aybar has hit .500, most of those games coming against the hot Rangers too.

Miguel Tejada, BAL, SS/3B (79): There is no age limit on this list folks, and Tejada is more than deserving to be added. Tejada has been building on his average steadily for the past month and over the last week he has recorded 5 RBI … and that’s for the Orioles … do you realize how hard it is to get that team to score?

Trevor Cahill, OAK, SP (59): Cahill shot up 35% ownership since he was an honorable mention last week. His past two starts have been lights out allowing only one run while striking out 14.  Over a span of 14 innings, that’s good for a 0.61 ERA.

Jonathan Niese, NYM, SP (16): You may be wondering how Niese was able to make the list after having a bad start versus the Tigers. He’s on because he proved that his 3-game winning streak wasn’t a fluke. After his bad start against the Tigers, Niese took on Joe Mauer and the Twins. In that game he didn’t allow a single run and struck out five, giving him his fifth win of the season.

Honorable Mention:  Joel Piniero, LLA, SP (30); Angel Pagan, NYM, OF (47), Jhoulys Chacin, COL, SP/RP (7); Ryan Raburn, DET, OF (1), Chris Coghlan, FLA, OF (79), Coco Crisp, OAK, OF (19)
