Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire (August 18th)

Despite a shaky start, Lind is heating up.

If your team is in need of a boost, we suggest taking a gander at the fantasy options listed below. These guys are absolutely on fire and are available in most standard leagues. Don’t wait too long as these guys are bound to be snatched up by week’s end.

David Murphy, TEX, OF (31): Murphy has been steadily increasing his average over the past month, and during his hot streak would be a great addition to any team. In the past week Murphy has plated four runners while swiping two bags to boot.

Adam Lind, TOR, OF (83): Lind is another player who has been increasing his average steadily this month. He plated three this week, giving him 12 already just this month.

Jerry Hairston Jr., SD, OF/2B/3B/SS (29): Hairston can play any position you want him to on your team, and his recent numbers would make him a good fit at whichever you choose. Hairston has had a lot of help from his teammates this week and has scored four runs over the last four contests.

Who said utility men can't be valuable?

Miguel Montero, ARI, C (90): Montero had a great week at the plate, socking three home runs. A .250 average doesn’t leave much to be desired, but that kind of run production from a catcher is more than expected. Grab Montero while you still can as he continues to make his way back from injury.

Ryan Ludwick, SD, OF (88): The slugger came in at just under .300 this past week and had five RBI as well. As owners should know, picking up a surging slugger on a team in the hunt for the pennant is always a good idea. This isn’t the first time we’ve touted Ludwick, but last time he was wearing a different uniform.

Honorable Mention: Pat Burrell, SF, OF (13); Ryan Raburn, DET, OF/2B, (11); Carlos Ruiz, PHI, C (41); Orlando Hudson, MIN, 2B (37); Bill Hall, BOS, 3B/2B/OF (8)
