Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire (August 12th)

Johnson has been one of the lone bright spots in Houston.

If your team is in need of a boost, we suggest taking a gander at the fantasy options listed below. These guys are absolutely on fire and are available in most standard leagues. Don’t wait too long as these guys are bound to be snatched up by week’s end.

Chris Johnson, HOU, 3B (78): Johnson was called up from the minor leagues in June and has raised his average to a very nice .361. You can count on decent RBI accumulation as well, as Johnson plated six this past week. He has also steadily increased his production each month this season so he could turn out to be a very worthwhile pick up come fantasy playoff time.

Luke Scott, BAL, OF/1B (90): Scott is on pace to smash his homerun high of 25, since he has 21 already on the season and two in the past week. Currently, Scott is on an eight game hitting streak and has raised his season average ten points to .293.

Adam LaRoche, ARI, 1B (92): LaRoche has been on fire lately, recording a .435 average this past week while going yard twice. The Diamondbacks have been helping him out a lot as well, bringing the first baseman in five times this past week.

Matt Wieters, BAL, C (55): Wieters has been slowly creeping up the power rankings for catchers. Although Wieters does have his fair share of strikeouts, owners can stomach it for his RBI production at his position. Wieters has also gotten much better as the season has progressed and had he not spent time on the DL would likely be owned in the majority of leagues.

Stanton is already feared at age 20.

Jason Kubel, MIN, OF (85): Kubel already has four home runs and twelve RBI so far this month and we’re not even halfway through. Kubel is a fantastic pickup for any team, as he already has six multi-hit games this month.

Mike Stanton, FLA, OF (31): Much like Wieters, a few strikeouts are expected for Stanton as he is a power hitter. Stanton’s .259 average is probably lower than owners would like, but his high slugging percentage and home run totals are what makes him valuable.

Honorable Mention: Kurt Suzuki, OAK, C (78); Rajai Davis, OAK, OF (89); Jose Tabata, PIT, OF (29)
