Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire (April. 30th)

Kosuke Fukudome

Fukudome is a suggested pick-up.

We continue our weekly fantasy baseball advice here at FBS with another look at your waiver wire. There are still quite a few healthy, productive bodies available in the majority of standard leagues, so take a look to see if there’s a player out there that’s the right fit for your fantasy roster:

Tyler Clippard, WAS, RP/SP, (Available in 52% of standard Yahoo leagues)

With a 0.54 ERA, a 0.84 WHIP, and .132 batting average against, Clippard has pretty much emerged as a star out of nowhere this season. He has already pitched about a third of the innings he pitched last year, and has about a 3-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio with more strikeouts than innings pitched (20 strikeouts, 16.2 innings pitched).

Livan Hernandez, WAS, SP, (69%)

Somehow, Hernandez has found a way to solidify himself as an ace in this league at 35 years old. He is 3-1 in four starts this season, with his only loss coming in an eight inning, 2 earned run effort. Hernandez has only let up three runs all year, and has a 0.87 ERA, a 0.87 WHIP, and a .176 batting average against going into May.

Carlos Silva, CHC, SP, (67%)

Although he only has two wins thus far, Silva has zero losses and every one of his four starts has been a quality one. With a 5-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio, he has a 1.73 ERA, a 0.77 WHIP, and a .183 batting average against. Once the big hitters on the Cubs’ offense provide run support, Silva’s wins will follow.

Kosuke Fukudome, CHC, RF/CF, (83%)

Although off to his best batting season in his major league career, manager Lou Piniella has decided to give Fukudome some rest when facing lefties, (as he struggles against them), which will keep him fresh and his batting average up.

With a .33 batting average and a .429 on base percentage thus far, Fukudome has been rather consistent, as his batting average never even dipped below the .275 mark since the third game of the year.

Austin Kearns, CLE, LF, (94%)

Kearns has driven in nine of his ten RBI’s have come in the past week and has recorded three doubles and two homeruns in his past three games. Overall this season, he’s batting .383 with a .431 on base percentage and a .660 slugging percentage.

Also Noteworthy: Will Venable, SD, RF/CF, (21%), Nick Swisher, NYY, RF/1B, (47%), David DeJesus, KC, RF/LF, (38%)

  1. [...] But just because the White Sox are in a rain delay doesn’t mean that you need to delay your waiver wire [...]
