Mariners manager Bon Wakamatsu said that Erik bedard hit 93 mph on the radar gun during his rehab start with the Rookie League Peoria Mariners Monday night. He threw 52 pitches while allowing only one run over 2 2/3 innings.
Jeremy Hermida-OF-Red Sox
Jeremy Hermida participated in some throwing exercises, running, and outfield drills on Tuesday. He has been sidelined since June 10 due to fractured ribs sustained during a collision with Adrian Beltre.
Jed Lowrie-OF-Red Sox
Teddy Francona said that Jed Lowrie is playing in extended spring training games. He is swinging the bat well after being diagnosed with mononucleosis.
Jacoby Ellsbury-OF-Red Sox
Jacoby Ellsbury will have his ribs re-evaluated later this week. He has spent the last two weeks at the Athletes Performance Institute in Arizona where he has been improving and feeling less pain.
Koji Uehara threw 30 pitches off flat ground on Monday after injuring his elbow on May 19. There is no timetable for his return from the disabled list.
Mike Gonzalez is schedules to throw another inning with the GCl Orioles on Friday after injuring his shoulder. He will then make three rehab outings at Double-A or Triple-A. He could be back with the Orioles the first week of July.
Manager Brad Mills said that Chris Johnson will get the bulk of playing time over Pedro Feliz from now on. Feliz is batting just .220 with two homers and 20 RBI on the season. He also has nine errors in the field.
Matt Belisle notched the save in Tuesday’s win over the Red Sox. He gave up one run on two hits. It is uncertain is this is a one-day thing or if he will be the closer that the Rockies look to from now on.
