With two weeks left in the Major League Baseball season, fantasy baseball leagues are in their final stretch. With little time remaining and many league championships still up in the air, it is vital to stay up to date on any news and information regarding your key fantasy baseball players. Weekly Fantasy Sportal will continue to provide you with the most current news and information on all things baseball for you to take home that league title.Jair Jurrjens, SP, Atlanta Braves
With Atlanta fighting for a spot in the playoffs, Jurrjens has been scratched from his Monday evening start against the Phillies. Jurrjens tweaked his knee last week and did not feel well enough on Monday morning to make his scheduled start. Jurrjens should be benched in all daily and weekly fantasy leagues, as it is unknown when he will take the hill again.
Ryan Ludwick, OF, San Diego Padres
Over his last seven games the Padres right fielder is hitting a solid .385. While he got off to a slow start after being traded from St. Louis, Ludwick has been red hot lately and with San Diego in the middle of a pennant race he is definitely worth a pick up in all fantasy formats. If San Diego is to make a run and advance to the postseason, Ludwick and his bat will play a huge role in making that happen.
Justin Upton, OF, Arizona Diamondbacks
Upton was out of Arizona’s lineup on Sunday for the fifth straight game and according to management is not close to returning. With Arizona out of the race and only two weeks remaining, it is completely logical for Arizona to shut down their stud OF for the rest of the season. Upton should clearly not be played in any daily or weekly fantasy format and, at this point it is safe to drop him altogether. While Upton has no value for the rest of this year, keeper and dynasty owners should still consider him a top-20 OF with the upside to be in the top 10.
Hanley Ramirez, SS, Florida Marlins
The consensus top-three fantasy pick, Ramirez is out of the Marlins’ lineup again on Monday due to soreness in his left elbow. Hanley has been out of the lineup since last Wednesday and at this point it is unknown when he play again. When healthy, Ramirez is a top 2 fantasy SS and is a must start in all leagues. At this point his situation should be monitored daily and when he is back in Florida’s lineup, he should be back in yours.
Jaime Garcia, SP, St. Louis Cardinals
The Cardinals rookie will not make his scheduled Thursday start against the Pirates with Jeff Suppan taking his place. The Cardinals still have concerns about Garcia’s high innings total and at this point it is unlikely Garcia will pitch again before the end of the season. Garcia should be benched if not dropped in all non-keeper or dynasty fantasy formats.
