Carlos Monasterios will start versus the Rockies on Friday night. He will be taking Ramon Ortiz’s spot in the rotation, who failed to impress after two starts.
Fred Lewis-OF-Blue Jays
Fred Lewis might be able to play on Wednesday, says Blue Jays manager Cito Gaston. He had been a late scratch from Tuesday’s game due to a bunion on his left foot. He has already ahd surgery to remove a bunion from his right foot.
Luke Scott-DH-Orioles
Manager Dave Trembley still isn’t sure whether Luke Scott, out with an injured shoulder, will be ready for play on Wednesday. Scott couldn’t comfortable swing a bat on Tuesday.
Rich Hill-S-Cardinals
Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that Rich Hill has a June1 out-clause in his contract. Hill is currently 3-2 with a 4.41 ERA with Triple-A Memphis. He has hit six batters and his command is weak.
Jose Contreras-R-Phillies
Manager Charlie Manuel indicated that Contreras will still get some save chances even after Brad Lidge comes off of the disabled list.
Jeremy Affeldt-R-Giants
Giants pitching coach said on Tuesday that Affeldt would be sidelined for a couple of days with an injured hamstring. An MRI on Monday revealed a deep strain.
Scott Hairston-OF-Padres
Scott Hairston ran the bases and took batting practice on Tuesday to test his injured hamstring. It was the first step to getting him back on the field.
Kyle Banks-OF-Padres
Kyle Banks took batting practice for the first time since going on the disabled list for an injured elbow. He was pain-free during practice, but not quite back where he needs to be.
Carlos Guillen-DH-Tigers
Carlos Guillen was 3-for-5 with three doubles and two runs scored on Tuesday in the fourth game of a minor league rehab stint with Triple-A Toledo after injuring his hamstring previously.
