Brian McCann has been stellar this season.
The All-Star game is upon us, and while in actuality, the season is more than halfway through, the midsummer classic has always marked the halfway point of the season. So what better time is there to reflect on who has dominated in each league. Speculation on who will win the most coveted awards in baseball, such as the MVP, Cy Young, and Rookie of the Year, will continue throughout the season. But here at the halfway point, we can see how each player is producing. These are the projected major award winners for the National and American League.
NL MVP: Brian McCann – ATL
I know that this is a bit of a dark horse, but I have long believed that the MVP should come from a winning club. (more…)

Elmo playin' along with the Joke of Derek Jeter making this years' All-Star team!
Ok, first of all, Elmo is on this photo because Derek Jeter making this year’s All-Star team is a joke. Somebody please answer this question for me. At 37 years of age, coming fresh off the DL this past Monday with a bum right calf muscle, hitting .256 with only 2 home runs and 20 RBI, how the heck did Derek Jeter get voted into the 2011 All-Star game? What kind of All-Star game is this where the more deserving players who are having real All-Star seasons keep on getting snubbed out of making the team? I always thought the All-Star game was for those players who are having All-Star type seasons. What’s going on out here?

Paul Konerko was left off of the AL All-Star roster.
With the announcement of the National League and American League All-Star rosters, there is always going to be speculation of who should have gotten in, and who should have stayed out. Voters did a better job this year on who should be playing in the game, with a few exceptions. The National League roster looks more “deserving” than the American League, but both lineups look solid. Here are the top 10 snubs for the American League, including hitters and pitchers.
1) Paul Konerko – CHW
The guy who has received all the publicity for being left out of the big game has received that press for good reason. Paul Konerko is a potential MVP-candidate, but the AL is too stacked with slugging first basemen. (more…)

Andrew McCutchen is not on the NL All-Star roster yet.
Every year, the fans vote in their starting lineup for the All-Star game, and it seems every year it is just a popularity contest, with no eye for the players who actually deserve an All-Star nod. Has this year been different? The answer may depend on what league you are looking at. Inevitably, however, there will always be snubs more deserving to play in the game than those who were voted in or tapped by their peers as All-Stars. These are the top 10 snubs for the National League, including hitters and pitchers.
1) Andrew McCutchen – PIT
McCutchen has been featured in our NL Power Rankings a few times, and for good reason. The 5’ 10”, 190 pound centerfielder has hit .294 with 12 HRs, and 45 runs knocked in. (more…)
